DJ Lady D has been a fixture of the New York City entertainment circuit for many years, and as a female DJ has been an exception in the male dominated genre of club mixing. She began spinning records at community centers and house parties back in 1991, providing her with an opportunity to land her first professional gig at Sweetwater’s Night Club. This led to college radio slots at Fordham University in the Bronx and Yale University in Connecticut. Her talent as a Disc Jockey carried her into the college circuit and opened doors for many private parties throughout the tri-state area. In 1995, she became the house DJ at NYC’s famed Crane Club under the direction of DJ Reggie Wells. Today, Lady D Wells has continued to florish as a mixer and has stepped into small promotion and new club venues. Through this venue, she garnered the opportunity to work events for major celebrities and sports figures. As her notoriety and reputation grew event planners began to recognize Lady D as a major talent with an unparallel work ethic.
She currently is the house DJ on 1st and 3rd Friday with 98.7 KISS FM and Club Tabu in Hempstead LI - broadcasting a 2am - 4am Friday night Dance Party. She also has stepped into a Last Friday position with Kevin "Sugar Daddy" Woodley at the Inkwell in NYC. Her schedule usually books at least 3 - 4 months in advance due to the high demand of clients. Lady D Wells is considered a "Headliner" DJ and a complete package due to the hard work she has put in.
Over the years she has worked with top promoters at some of the largest venues in NYC including the Apollo Theatre, Madison Square Garden, The Roxy and The Roseland Ballroom. She has also performed in Florida, Maryland, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and West Virginia. In addition to DJing, Lady D is very involved in the industry where she recently served as a judge for the “FEMMIXX” (female DJ contest) awards and is a long time member of the SURE Record Pool. In 2006 she received the “DJ of The Year Award” from NYC’s top Promoters. Lady D is also an accomplished producer and remixes working with several independent artists. Lady D became a part of the 98.7 KISS FM family as the first female Mixmaster. She has been working with the #1 station for Old School and today’s R&B since the 2005. On March 28, 2010 she was honored at a exclusive birthday event given by Rawsilk Production where she received 4 awards from various promoters. Rawsilk and Juju Models honored her work for supporting their organizations. Shaila Scott who works tireless with Breast Cancer Awareness / Domestic Violence also Honored Lady D for her dedication to support with those extremely important causes. Also, ZVK Productions honored Lady D Wells for her extended work with their organization. When asked how does she keep up, her reply is the love of people and music. My appreciation is done through giving back to those who have helped support me and my God given talent should be shared throughout how far I can reach.
To know all the people I have been able to make happy, moves me. To be able to share a talent that is very rare for women with those who love to party and know they are satisfied with my work, makes me feel that the work is not done in vain. I am a hard worker who will ensure I give 110% when I step in any event. To know I was a part of making someone's event a success is the most satisfying achievements. I also understand that today it is not easy to find good DJ's who know what to do.
She mixes throughout the tri-state area and will continue to prosper and grow moving ahead.
She has partnered with many promoters and DJ's throughout the tri-state area. Lady D Wells has currently put a team of DJ's together who will be entertaining you as well as she will continue to entertain.
thank you,
Lady D Wells
